Why is it that when I find properties while searching web sites for homes on the market the home shows as 'available' and yet when I call my Realtor, I find that the home is not available and has an accepted offer?
I am sorry about your disappointment. When you search properties on most web sites the information is often a few days old. The best way to get a current list of properties that fit your criteria is to ask your Realtor to set up a live search for you. When you receive the email with a live link you will then have up to date information. The live link shows the status change as soon as the listing agent makes changes in the MLS.
There are several homes in my neighborhood that have sold recently. The homes were sold for quite a bit less than I owe on my home. Is there anything that can be done?
You may be able to re-finance and reduce the loan amount to today's values. I suggest you contact your lender regarding this issue. For useful informaiton go to: Help For Home Owners
My Realtor is not in the area and is not available to show me homes. Can I just call the listing agents to open the doors for me?
Yes, you could do that but, it may be a good idea to speak to your Realtor about referring you to a Realtor in the area where you plan to buy. Often there is a commission split between the 2 Realtors. It may be a win/win situation and make your search easier on you.
